AB329-AA1,1,1 At the locations indicated, amend the bill as follows:

AB329-AA1,1,3 1. Page 2, line 3: after “report to the" insert “appropriate standing committees of the".

AB329-AA1,1,4 2. Page 2, line 4: delete “(2)" and substitute “(3)".

AB329-AA1,1,8 3. Page 2, line 5: after “calendar year." insert “The standing committees shall review the report submitted under this subsection to determine whether the requirements for executing a search warrant under s. 968.14 are necessary and appropriate and shall report their findings to the legislature.".

AB329-AA1,1,9 4. Page 4, line 2: after that line insert:

AB329-AA1,1,10 “ Section 2m. 968.14 (title) of the statutes is amended to read:

AB329-AA1,1,11 968.14 (title) Use Announcement requirement and use of force.

AB329-AA1,3m Section 3m. 968.14 of the statutes is renumbered 968.14 (3).

AB329-AA1,4m Section 4m. 968.14 (1) and (2) of the statutes are created to read:

AB329-AA1,2,4 968.14 (1) When executing a search warrant, a law enforcement officer shall wear his or her uniform and, except as provided under sub. (2), may not enter the premises subject to the warrant without first identifying that he or she is a law enforcement officer and announcing the authority and purpose of the entry.

AB329-AA1,2,8 (2) No judge may issue a search warrant that authorizes an exception to the announcement required under sub. (1), unless the judge finds, by a preponderance of the evidence, that an exception is necessary in order to protect the safety of a law enforcement officer or a member of the public.”.
