SR11-SSA1,1,1 1Relating to: condemning the violent insurrection in Washington, D.C.
SR11-SSA1,1,32 Whereas, the general election for President of the United States was held on
3November 3, 2020; and
SR11-SSA1,1,64 Whereas, after counting, canvassing, and recounting votes, Joseph R. Biden
5and Kamala D. Harris were certified as the winners of the state of Wisconsin, having
6earned over 20,000 more votes than Donald J. Trump and Michael R. Pence; and
SR11-SSA1,1,97 Whereas, nationally, Joseph R. Biden and Kamala D. Harris earned 81,283,485
8votes and 306 Electoral College delegates compared to 74,223,744 votes and 232
9Electoral College delegates for Donald J. Trump and Michael R. Pence; and
SR11-SSA1,1,1210 Whereas, President Donald J. Trump has obsessively, recklessly, and without
11evidence, claimed that widespread voter fraud and a litany of conspiracy theories
12influenced the outcome of the November 3, 2020, general election; and

1Whereas, President Donald J. Trump promoted and was a featured speaker at
2the January 6, 2021, “March to Save America” rally in Washington D.C.; and
SR11-SSA1,2,53 Whereas, in his remarks to the crowd, President Donald J. Trump falsely
4claimed “we won this election, and we won it by a landslide” and encouraged the
5assembled mob to march on the U.S. Capitol; and
SR11-SSA1,2,96 Whereas, at the urging of the President, and in an attempt to subvert the
7democratic counting of Electoral College votes, an armed mob of Trump supporters
8stormed the U.S. Capitol, unlawfully gaining entrance to the building after
9smashing windows and breaching police barricades; and
SR11-SSA1,2,1310 Whereas, the mob violently looted and vandalized the U.S. Capitol building
11while assaulting members of law enforcement and forcing drastic emergency actions
12to protect and safeguard the Vice President of the United States, lawmakers,
13members of the media, and the general public; and
SR11-SSA1,2,1514 Whereas, at least five people died, dozens were physically injured, and
15countless more suffered severe trauma as a result of the violent insurrection; and
SR11-SSA1,2,2016 Whereas, the Federal Bureau of Investigation has received information
17regarding coordinated armed protests at all 50 state capitols involving threats from
18armed domestic terrorist organizations to storm state, local and federal government
19buildings, directly threatening the safety and security of the Wisconsin State Senate
20and its members; and
SR11-SSA1,2,2321 Whereas, the dangerous language used by President Donald J. Trump to
22question the legitimacy of our elections and incite violence has drawn bipartisan
23condemnation from Wisconsin's federal delegation; now, therefore, be it
SR11-SSA1,3,3 24Resolved by the senate, That in recognition of the fair, impartial, and
25legitimate November 3, 2020, general election for President of the United States, the

1Wisconsin State Senate recognizes and affirms Joseph R. Biden and Kamala D.
2Harris as the certified winners of Wisconsin's Electoral College votes; and, be it
3further
SR11-SSA1,3,7 4Resolved, That the Wisconsin State Senate rejects President Donald J.
5Trump's claims of a “stolen election” and denounces the conspiracies espoused by him
6as un-American, demonstrably false, undermining of our core democratic values,
7and dangerous to the peaceful transition of presidential authority; and, be it further
SR11-SSA1,3,10 8Resolved, That the Wisconsin State Senate condemns the violent insurrection
9that was incited by President Donald J. Trump on January 6, 2021, in Washington,
10D.C.; and, be it further
SR11-SSA1,3,14 11Resolved, That the Wisconsin State Senate offers its condolences to the family
12and loved ones of U.S. Capitol Police Officer Brian D. Sicknick, a military veteran
13and twelve year member of the U.S. Capitol Police Department, who was fatally
14injured by the violent mob.
