AB336-AA1,1,11 At the locations indicated, amend the bill as follows:
AB336-AA1,1,2 21. Page 2, line 9: after that line insert:
AB336-AA1,1,3 3 Section 2m. 48.975 (3) (c) of the statutes is amended to read:
AB336-AA1,1,114 48.975 (3) (c) Nonrecurring adoption expenses. Subject to any maximum
5amount provided by the department by rule promulgated under sub. (5), the adoption
6assistance for nonrecurring adoption expenses shall be sufficient to pay the
7reasonable and necessary adoption fees, court costs, legal fees , and other expenses
8that are directly related to the adoption of the child and that are not incurred in
9violation of any state or federal law. Adoption assistance under this paragraph may
10not be provided for adoption expenses that are paid for or reimbursed under s.
1149.170.
”.
AB336-AA1,1,12 122. Page 3, line 5: delete lines 5 to 13 and substitute:
AB336-AA1,2,4
1“(b) Financial assistance awarded from the grant may only be awarded to or
2on behalf of families in this state who are adopting children from this state or
3children who are not from this state but over whom a tribal court in this state has
4jurisdiction.
AB336-AA1,2,75 (c) Awards of financial assistance from the grant are limited to $10,000 per
6adoptive family and may not be used for expenses that are paid or reimbursed under
7s. 48.975 (3) (c).
AB336-AA1,2,148 (d) The grant recipient shall impose conditions on the financial assistance it
9awards from the grant, including that only families that have reached a certain stage
10in the adoption process are eligible and that the grant recipient may reclaim
11financial assistance it has awarded if the financial assistance is used improperly or
12if it is not used by a certain deadline. The department shall determine the stage in
13an adoption process that families shall have reached to be eligible for financial
14assistance.”.
