VETERANS
Under current law, with some exceptions, the date of receipt of an application for admission into a veterans home is the date that is used in making a priority determination for admitting the applicant. An applicant may be exempted from this priority system if the applicant is in immediate need of physical care. The bill specifies that "physical care" includes skilled rehabilitation services following a hospital stay that qualifies for reimbursement under the federal Medicare program.
For further information see the state fiscal estimate, which will be printed as an appendix to this bill.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:
Section 1. 45.51 (3) (a) of the statutes is renumbered 45.51 (3) (a) 2.
Section 2. 45.51 (3) (a) 1. of the statutes is created to read:
45.51 (3) (a) 1. In this paragraph, "physical care" includes skilled rehabilitation services following a hospital stay that meets the qualifications under 42 CFR 409.30.
