Currently, the service award board, which is attached to DOA, provides annual awards to volunteer fire fighters, first responders, and emergency medical technicians who perform work for municipalities. Currently, a sum sufficient is appropriated from general purpose revenues, not to exceed a total of $2,000,000 in any fiscal year. This bill increases the total amount that may be awarded in any fiscal year to $3,000,000.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:
Section 1. 20.505 (4) (er) of the statutes is amended to read:
20.505 (4) (er) Service award program; state matching awards. A sum sufficient to make the payments required under s. 16.25 (3) (d). The amount appropriated under this paragraph may not exceed $2,000,000 $3,000,000 in a fiscal year.
