Under current law, the Office of Children's Mental Health (OCMH), in DHS, is tasked with working to improve state agency integration of children's mental health services and to monitor the performance of programs that provide those services. Its director is appointed by, and serves at the pleasure of, the governor. Under this bill, the director of OCMH is appointed by, and serves at the pleasure of, the secretary of DHS.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:
Section 1. 15.194 (1) of the statutes is amended to read:
15.194 (1) Office of children's mental health. There is created an office of children's mental health in the department of health services. The director of the office shall be appointed by the governor secretary of health services to serve at the pleasure of the governor secretary of health services.
