Under current law, DNR may issue a general permit authorizing a vessel that is 79 feet or greater in length to discharge ballast water into the waters of the state. If DNR issues a general permit, DNR must charge a person who seeks coverage under the general permit a specified application fee and an annual fee. Current law establishes a sunset date of December 31, 2015, after which these fees do not apply. This bill eliminates that sunset date so that these fees continue to apply after December 31, 2015.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

1. 283.35 (1m) (c) of the statutes is repealed.
