Bonding for nonpoint source water pollution abatement
Under current law, the state may contract up to $57,050,000 in public debt to provide financial assistance for projects that control pollution that comes from diffuse sources rather than a single concentrated discharge source in areas that qualify as high priority due to water quality problems. This bill increases the bonding authority for these projects by $10,000,000.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:
Section 1. 20.866 (2) (tf) of the statutes is amended to read:
20.866 (2) (tf) Natural resources; nonpoint source. From the capital improvement fund, a sum sufficient for the department of natural resources to fund nonpoint source water pollution abatement projects under s. 281.65 (4c) and (4e). The state may contract public debt in an amount not to exceed $44,050,000 $67,050,000 for this purpose. The state may contract additional public debt in an amount up to $6,500,000 for this purpose.
