ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: the service of Joe Gruber to working men and women.
Whereas, Joe Gruber has been a strong labor leader for many years; and
Whereas, Joe Gruber was first elected president of Allied Industrial Workers of America, Local 849, in 1962, while working at Regal Ware; and
Whereas, Joe was appointed Region 9 representative of the Allied Industrial Workers of America, for whom he handled bargaining contracts, grievances and arbitration disputes; and
Whereas, Joe Gruber was appointed by Governor Schreiber to the Wisconsin Council on Developmental Disabilities and served on the National Association of Developmental Disabilities Council's Employe Protection Committee from 1977 to 1989; and
Whereas, Joe Gruber was elected executive vice president of the Wisconsin AFL-CIO in 1974, a position that he held until his retirement in 1994; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the members of the legislature of the state of Wisconsin congratulate Joe Gruber on his years of service, commend him on his distinguished career and wish him the best of everything upon his retirement; and, be it further
Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall provide a copy of this joint resolution to Joe Gruber.
