1997 Assembly Joint Resolution 10
ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: the life and public service of Oscar Laper.
Whereas, Oscar Laper was born on July 13, 1915, in Green Lake County and died on September 29, 1996, in Baraboo; and
Whereas, he graduated from Markesan High School and completed the Commercial Course at Northwestern College in Watertown; and
Whereas, Mr. Laper served on the board of the Town of Excelsior for 40 years, including 15 years of service as chair, and on the board of supervisors of Sauk County for 40 years and was the Midwest Director of the National Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts; and
Whereas, he served in the assembly from 1967 to 1971 as a Republican representing Sauk County; and
Whereas, during his tenure in the assembly he served diligently on the Education Committee, the Labor Committee and the Taxation Committee; and
Whereas, Mr. Laper was also a skilled organist and played that instrument professionally; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the legislature of the state of Wisconsin commend Oscar Laper's many years of public service, express their sorrow at his death and extend their condolences to his family and friends; and, be it further
Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide copies of this joint resolution to Mr. Laper's wife, Lois, and to his daughter, Myrna Armstrong.
