1997 Assembly Joint Resolution 134
ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: the life and public service of Henry Schowalter.
Whereas, Henry Schowalter was born on August 4, 1909, in Jackson and died on March 24, 1998, in Silver Lake; and
Whereas, he received his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1932 and his law degree in 1934; and
Whereas, he worked in West Bend for over 60 years, first practicing law with Attorney Ted Simester in 1934 in the firm Simester and Schowalter, which has come to be known as Schowalter and Edwards, S.C.; and
Whereas, he was elected to the assembly for one term in 1936 as a Democrat and served as a trustee for many years for the West Bend Community Trust; and
Whereas, Mr. Schowalter was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ, the president and a member of the West Bend Kiwanis Club, the president of the West Bend Community Memorial Library Board, the president of the Red Cross Board during World War II and a board member of the Washington County Memorial Park of West Bend; and
Whereas, he was an avid naturalist and fisherman; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the Wisconsin legislature express their sorrow at the death of Henry Schowalter and extend their condolences to his family and friends; and, be it further
Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide copies of this joint resolution to Jean Schowalter, Henry Schowalter, Thomas Schowalter, Kenney Hecht, Laurie Valerius and Linda Schowalter.
