1997 Assembly Resolution 4
ENGROSSED RESOLUTION
Relating to: the life and public service of Barbara Geyer.
Whereas, Barbara Geyer was born in Watertown on July 5, 1940, and died in Jefferson on January 11, 1997; and
Whereas, she graduated from Jefferson High School and the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater; and
Whereas, Ms. Geyer began working in the office of the Jefferson County Clerk in 1960, became a deputy in that office the next year, was first elected Jefferson County Clerk in 1976 and continued in that position until her death; and
Whereas, she had a rare combination of efficiency and compassion; and
Whereas, she demonstrated the former quality by ensuring that her office ran smoothly and performed its work in a timely fashion; and
Whereas, she demonstrated the latter quality by her friendliness and obvious concern for her co-workers, her friends and the people of Jefferson County who had business with her office; and
Whereas, she also coached and refereed basketball and was active in the Jefferson County Taxpayers Alliance, the Jefferson Area Business and Professional Women's Organization, the Jefferson County Republican Party and her church; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the assembly, That the members of the assembly of the state of Wisconsin commend the decades of exemplary public service that Barbara Geyer rendered to the people of Jefferson County, express their sorrow at her death and extend their condolences to her family and friends; and, be it further
Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide copies of this resolution to Barbara Geyer's mother and to her brother, Ronald.
