1997 Assembly Resolution 6
ENGROSSED RESOLUTION
Relating to: declaring June 7 to June 14, 1997, Wisconsin Homeownership Week.
Whereas, homeownership strengthens families, builds communities and promotes personal well-being; and
Whereas, the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority, the Division of Housing in the Department of Administration and the Housing Authority of Racine County, in cooperation with Habitat for Humanity, Heritage Bank community homebuyers class, the school-to-work program and others, are actively engaged in efforts to increase homeownership opportunities for the residents of Wisconsin and the city of Racine through a successful partnership of public, private and nonprofit organizations; and
Whereas, those organizations are actively working with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to increase the national homeownership rate to an all-time high of 67.5% by the end of the year 2000; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the assembly, That the members of the assembly of the state of Wisconsin commend the efforts of all Wisconsin housing organizations, particularly those operating in the Racine area, for their efforts in promoting homeownership opportunities and recognize the value of their achievements; and, be it further
Resolved, That, in order to encourage the citizens of this state to recognize and salute the contributions of housing organizations that are providing homeownership opportunities, the period of June 7 to June 14, 1997, is declared "Wisconsin Homeownership Week"; and, be it further
Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide copies of this resolution to Delbert Reynolds, State Coordinator of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and to Mario Cuomo, U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development.
