1999 Assembly Joint Resolution 80
ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: commending David Stute on his career, accomplishments and contributions to the state of Wisconsin.
Whereas, David Stute will retire as director of the Legislative Council Staff on October 15, 1999; and
Whereas, David Stute has served the state of Wisconsin for 31 years at the Legislative Council Staff and 23 years in a supervisory role as director or chief staff attorney; and
Whereas, David Stute has functioned as a mentor for Legislative Council Staff attorneys on complex and controversial legal issues coming before the Legislature; and
Whereas, David Stute has edited numerous Legislative Council Staff publications over the years, using unmatched reasoning ability and attention to detail to help keep Legislative Council Staff publications accurate and well written; and
Whereas, David Stute has helped many legislators develop legislative solutions to difficult policy problems; and
Whereas, David Stute has been instrumental in developing major legislation, such as the Wisconsin Consumer Act, which was landmark legislation protecting Wisconsin consumers in their dealing with creditors; chapter 33 of the statutes authorizing the formation of lake districts to protect inland lakes; the State Clean Water Act, regulating the discharge of hazardous substances into the waters of Wisconsin; and state environmental laws regulating mining; and
Whereas, David Stute has been a great friend and fair-minded confidant to members of the legislature since 1968, and has led the Legislative Council Staff with dignity, exemplary character, and utmost professionalism in that time; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the Wisconsin legislature commend David Stute on his career, accomplishments, and contributions to the state of Wisconsin and wish him the best upon his retirement; and, be it further
Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide copies of this joint resolution to David Stute.
