1999 Assembly Resolution 14
ENGROSSED RESOLUTION
Relating to: offering sincerest condolences to the families of the victims who were killed in the earthquake in Taiwan.
Whereas, it is with regret and deep sorrow that we, the members of the Wisconsin assembly, hear of the tragic earthquake and subsequent tremors that killed hundreds of people and wreaked havoc in the Republic of China on Taiwan; and
Whereas, our prayers and heartfelt wishes go out to the many families who lost loved ones and have suffered overwhelming loss in the earthquake's aftermath; and
Whereas, our warm thoughts will continually be with the people of Taiwan as they search for answers as to why such a tragedy occurred; and
Whereas, it is our hope that the courage and strength of the Taiwanese nation will be able to overcome this horrific act of nature and that the people will once again find harmony and peace on their beautiful island nation; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the assembly, That the members of the assembly offer our sincerest condolences to the families of the victims who were killed in the earthquake disaster; and, be it further
Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall send copies of this resolution to the director general of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Chicago, Illinois.
