1999 Assembly Resolution 24
ENGROSSED RESOLUTION
Relating to: the life and public service of William N. Belter.
Whereas, William N. Belter was born on July 7, 1926, and died on December 12, 1999; and
Whereas, after graduating from Wautoma High School in 1944, he continued his education at the University of Wisconsin, ultimately receiving his law degree in 1949; and
Whereas, in addition to his law career, he constantly devoted himself to public endeavors, serving as justice of the peace from 1947 to 1960, and as Waushara County district attorney from 1968 to 1979; and
Whereas, William N. Belter served in the Wisconsin assembly from 1953 to 1957, where he was chairman of the Committee on Contingent Expenditures; and
Whereas, in addition to the law and public service, William Belter's activities included service as a director and president of Union State Bank; and
Whereas, he also operated a restaurant and was comanager of Belter Tube Bending in Wautoma; and
Whereas, William Belter was Wautoma's great globe-trotter, whose enthusiasm for other climes and cultures made each journey abroad a true voyage of discovery; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the assembly, That the members of the assembly honor William N. Belter for a distinguished career of public service, and mourn his passing; and, be it further
Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide copies of this resolution to William Belter's wife, Alcina; his daughters, Alessandra and Babette; and his son, Endre.
