1999 Assembly Resolution 30
ENGROSSED RESOLUTION
Relating to: commending Marcella Dolan Chase's many years of devoted public service.
Whereas, Marcella Dolan Chase of Stoughton, formerly of Sun Prairie, died March 10, 2000, at the Nazareth House in Stoughton; and
Whereas, Marcella was born on a farm in Bristol Township, the eldest of 3 daughters of Atchison and Alma (Fullert) Dolan; and
Whereas, Marcella attended a country school and Sacred Hearts School, but the depression prevented her from attending college; and
Whereas, Marcella Dolan Chase married Theodore W. Chase of Sun Prairie in 1934, and they were married for 50 years; and
Whereas, Marcella and Theodore had 6 children, Diane, Nancy, David, Byron, Susan and Ted Jr.; and
Whereas, Marcella was involved in the 4-H Club in Bristol and became a member of the Young Republicans in her teenage years; and
Whereas, Marcella ran Wilbur Renk's campaign headquarters for governor in 1962 and senator in 1964; and
Whereas, Marcella Dolan Chase served as a board member for St. Mary's Hospital and completed more than 2,000 hours of volunteer work, including working with flowers, mail delivery, historian for the St. Mary's Hospital Auxiliary, gift shop worker, and the development committee; and
Whereas, Marcella served on the board of directors of Catholic Charities, the Madison YWCA, Independent Living, past president of the Colonial Club Senior Activity Center, the Twentieth Century Club and the Wisconsin Council of Catholic Women; and
Whereas, in 1979, Marcella was named to the Board on Aging and Long-Term Care by former Governor Lee Sherman Dreyfus; and
Whereas, Marcella Dolan Chase taught many about community service through her works and her special ability to make everyone feel important; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the assembly, That the members of the Wisconsin assembly commend Marcella Dolan Chase's many years of devoted public service, express their sorrow at her death and extend their condolences to her family and friends; and, be it further
Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide copies of this resolution to Marcella Dolan Chase's children, David Chase, Theodore Chase and Nancy McMahon of Sun Prairie; Byron Chase and Diane Worzala of Madison; and Susan Chase of Verona.
