Assembly Resolution 6
ENGROSSED RESOLUTION
Relating to: welcoming Timothy M. Dolan, the new Archbishop of Milwaukee.
Whereas, Timothy Dolan was named the 10th Archbishop of Milwaukee by Pope John Paul II on June 25, 2002; and
Whereas, the Archdiocese of Milwaukee was established in 1843 and includes 10 counties of southeastern Wisconsin and over 600,000 Catholics; and
Whereas, Archbishop Dolan has served as a parish priest, as secretary to the Apostolic Nunciature in Washington, D.C., as rector of the Pontifical North American College in Rome, and most recently as Auxiliary Bishop of St. Louis, Missouri; and
Whereas, as Archbishop of Milwaukee, he will be the highest ranking and most visible leader of the Catholic church in Wisconsin; and
Whereas, he has demonstrated throughout his career characteristics that will serve him well in that role: strength, courage, warmth, and humility; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the assembly, That the Wisconsin assembly welcomes Archbishop Dolan to Wisconsin; and, be it further
Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide a copy of this resolution to Archbishop Dolan.
