2001 Assembly Joint Resolution 11
ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: the life and public service of LeRoy Pete Litscher.
Whereas, LeRoy Pete Litscher was born on January 15, 1922, in the Town of Troy, Sauk County, Wisconsin, and died on October 15, 2000, at St. Clare Hospital, Baraboo, Wisconsin, at the age of 78; and
Whereas, he graduated from Prairie du Sac High School in 1940; and
Whereas, he was an enthusiastic farmer and was dedicated to public service; and
Whereas, Mr. Litscher served on the local board of directors of the Farmer's Union Co-op (now Cenex) for 26 years, the Wisconsin Farmers Union state board for many years, the board of the Baraboo Milk Producers, and the board of the Wisconsin Association of Drainage Districts; and
Whereas, he served on the Lower Narrows School Board, the Baraboo School Board, and the Sauk County Board for many years; and
Whereas, he was appointed by Governor Patrick Lucey to serve on the Cable Television Study Commission in 1971; and
Whereas, he was elected to the Wisconsin assembly in a November 1975 special election and reelected in 1976; and
Whereas, Mr. Litscher served as vice chairperson of the assembly committees on revenue and natural resources, as a member of the assembly Committee on Agriculture, and on the Legislative Council Natural Resources Committee and its subcommittee on floodplains; and
Whereas, he felt an abiding responsibility to leave the land in better condition than he found it and had a hard time believing that anyone was all bad, as expressed in this greeting: "There is a destiny that makes us brothers. None goes his way alone. All that we send into the lives of others comes back into our own."; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the Wisconsin legislature does hereby commend the life and exemplary public service of LeRoy Pete Litscher, and extends its sympathies to his wife, his children and their families, and his brothers and sisters and their families; and, be it further
Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide copies of this joint resolution to Mr. Litscher's wife, Joan, his daughter, Laurie Seifert of Hartland, and his son, Patrick Litscher of Madison.
