2001 Assembly Resolution 29
ENGROSSED RESOLUTION
Relating to: the life and public service of Michael Joyce.
Whereas, Michael Joyce began his career as a teacher of history and political science at the secondary and college levels; and
Whereas, Michael Joyce worked with the Educational Research Council of America for 6 years before changing course and entering the arena of private foundations; and
Whereas, Michael Joyce served in a leadership position in the John M. Olin Foundation in New York and in the Goldseker Foundation in Baltimore during his 20-year career in private philanthropy; and
Whereas, Michael Joyce has served as president and chief executive officer of the Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation since 1985; and
Whereas, Michael Joyce is retiring as president and chief executive officer of the Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation as of July 5, 2001; and
Whereas, Michael Joyce plans to remain involved in civic and public affairs, especially efforts to strengthen churches, schools, and other institutions of civil society; and
Whereas, Michael Joyce has been praised for his work on family issues and faith-based efforts to deal with social problems; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the assembly, That the members of the Wisconsin assembly salute the life and public service of Michael Joyce; and, be it further
Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide a copy of this resolution to Michael Joyce and to the Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation.
