ENGROSSED RESOLUTION
Relating to: proclaiming November 12 of each year as Alzheimer's Disease Awareness Day in Wisconsin.
Whereas, Alzheimer's disease is a progressive, degenerative, and fatal disease that attacks brain cells, thus impairing memory, abstract thinking, and behavior; and
Whereas, over 100,000 people in Wisconsin are afflicted with Alzheimer's disease; and
Whereas, an early diagnosis and the provision of treatment necessary in the early stages of Alzheimer's disease is crucial to delaying the onset of this disease; and
Whereas, by delaying the onset of Alzheimer's disease, we reduce health care costs and provide a higher quality of life for the patient; and
Whereas, raising awareness for Alzheimer's disease will prompt citizens to be aware of the continuing need for research to treat and someday cure this disease; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the assembly, That the members of the Wisconsin assembly proclaim November 12 of each year as "Alzheimer's Disease Awareness Day."
