2001 Senate Joint Resolution 54
ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: congratulating Bob Uecker on his induction into the Radio Hall of Fame.
Whereas, Bob Uecker was a major league baseball player for 6 years, including playing for the Milwaukee Braves and the St. Louis Cardinals when they won the World Series in 1964; and
Whereas, Bob Uecker has been the voice of the Milwaukee Brewers Baseball Club for more than 30 years; and
Whereas, Bob Uecker's unique brand of humor and excellent insight into the game of baseball has made him an icon in sports broadcasting and has earned him the nickname "Mr. Baseball"; and
Whereas, Bob Uecker has gained national prominence through various appearances in movies, television shows, and commercials, as well as play-by-play announcing of Monday Night Baseball, League Championship Series, and World Series games on NBC; and
Whereas, Bob Uecker's talent as a broadcaster is only matched by his generosity in working to improve the lives of others through various charitable organizations, including the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which seeks to improve the lives of terminally ill children; and
Whereas, Bob Uecker is a native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and has continuously given back to the community through his charity events, such as Uecker's Great Lakes Invitational fishing tournament, Mr. Baseball's Brats Benefit, and the Uecker Ride for the arts; and
Whereas, Bob Uecker was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame on November 3, 2001, and was the first former player turned broadcaster to achieve this feat; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the members of the Wisconsin legislature commend and congratulate Bob Uecker on his induction into the Radio Hall of Fame; and, be it further
Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall provide a copy of this joint resolution to Mr. Uecker.
