ENGROSSED RESOLUTION
Relating to: recognizing the week beginning the first Monday in October as "Household Hazardous Waste Awareness Week."
Whereas, household hazardous waste is any material used in the home that is flammable, corrosive, toxic, or reactive and could cause harm to human health, animals, or the environment; and
Whereas, it is imperative that tools are developed to bring more information to the general public regarding safe handling, storage, and proper disposal of household hazardous waste; and
Whereas, people will consciously help to protect the environment if they are informed on how to properly and safely dispose of household hazardous waste; and
Whereas, it is important to promote and preserve Wisconsin's natural beauty; and
Whereas, people should be encouraged to participate in household hazardous waste programs through education and better understanding; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the senate, That members of the Wisconsin senate hereby recognize the week beginning with the first Monday in October each year as "Household Hazardous Waste Awareness Week" in Wisconsin; and, be it further
Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall send a copy of this resolution to all newspapers, radio stations, and television stations in Wisconsin, requesting their assistance in publicizing "Household Hazardous Waste Awareness Week" in Wisconsin and informing the residents of this state of the importance of their participation in household hazardous waste programs.
