2003 Assembly Joint Resolution 23
ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: declaring March Red Cross Month.
Whereas, the mission of the American Red Cross is more relevant than ever as we confront a changing world full of unique challenges and resolve to be better prepared in the event of disaster in our state; and
Whereas, in a collaborative effort with the federal, state, and local governments and other members of the emergency planning community, the Red Cross and its partners are better able to serve our local communities, state, and nation; and
Whereas, through its Together We Prepare initiative, the Red Cross is leading the way in empowering individuals and families to protect themselves with three simple emergency action steps — make a plan, build a kit, and get trained; and
Whereas, for more than 121 years, the American Red Cross has honored its mission to provide relief to victims of disasters while helping people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies; and
Whereas, Wisconsin residents who need blood, who are victims of disaster, or who are the recipients of a broad spectrum of community services rely on the American Red Cross every day; and
Whereas, compassionate and caring people in our state who want to make a difference channel their support through the American Red Cross; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the Wisconsin legislature do proclaim the month of March 2003 as Red Cross Month in the state of Wisconsin, and commend this observance to all citizens; and, be it further
Resolved, That as we celebrate American Red Cross Month, the members of the legislature call upon all our citizens to become partners in preparedness with their local Red Cross chapters and to become active participants in advancing the noble mission of the Red Cross; and, be it further
Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide a copy of this joint resolution to the American Red Cross.
