ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: the life of Marine Corps Private First Class Brent Vroman.
Whereas, Marine Corps Private First Class Brent Vroman was born on January 6, 1983, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, and died on Monday, December 13, 2004, in Babil Province, Iraq, while conducting combat operations; and
Whereas, PFC Vroman served with distinction as a rifleman in 1st Platoon, Fox Company, 2nd Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, based in Yusufiya, Iraq; and
Whereas, PFC Vroman graduated from Omro High School in 2001; and
Whereas, PFC Vroman's passion was wrestling, and he was a member of the wrestling team for all 4 years of high school, he was a 4-year letter winner, and he was a conference champion during his senior year; and
Whereas, PFC Vroman participated in football for all 4 years of high school and participated in baseball, track, chorus, and the Spanish Club; and
Whereas, PFC Vroman enjoyed hunting and fishing and volunteered time with Pheasants Forever; and
Whereas, PFC Vroman was a happy-go-lucky, good-natured man, who would always give a smile to anyone in need, who was just fun to be around, whose laughter was contagious, and whose happiness was apparent in the twinkle of his eye; and
Whereas, PFC Vroman made the ultimate sacrifice for his country while advancing the cause of freedom for the Iraqi people; and
Whereas, PFC Vroman will always be remembered for his loyalty and duty and will never be forgotten; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the Wisconsin legislature commend the life of Marine Corps Private First Class Brent Vroman, express their sorrow at his death, and extend their condolences to his family and friends; and, be it further
Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide copies of this joint resolution to PFC Vroman's mother and stepfather, Pam and Bill DeGroot of Oshkosh; to his father and stepmother, Bob and Jean Vroman of Oshkosh; to his fiancée, Katie Heidl of Oshkosh; to his brothers, Lance Corporal Brian Vroman of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, Bob Vroman of Oshkosh, and BJ DeGroot of Wilmington, North Carolina; to his sisters, Angela Koehn of Oshkosh, Maggie DeGroot of Oshkosh, and Ellie DeGroot of Oshkosh; and to his grandparents, Evon Kallin of Oshkosh, Pat DeGroot of Green Bay, and Millie Quant of Oshkosh.
