2005 Assembly Joint Resolution 87
ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: life and public service of John L. Zeller.
Whereas, John L. Zeller was born July 2, 1924, in Gibsonburg, Ohio, to Carl and Leta (Ottney) Zeller, and died February 26, 2006, at his home in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin; and
Whereas, Mr. Zeller served his country as a member of the Army Air Corps in Italy during World War II; and
Whereas, Mr. Zeller graduated from Michigan State University in 1948 with a degree in Forestry and Housing and Lumber Management, moved to Fond du Lac in 1958, and worked as manager for the Fond du Lac Lumber Company, later leaving that business to help form Sterling Custom Homes, where he served as vice president in charge of sales; and
Whereas, Mr. Zeller was a passionate community leader, serving as a Fond du Lac county supervisor from 1966 to 1974, coordinator for the Fond du Lac Economic Authority from 1983 to 1989, and Fond du Lac City Council member from 1990 to 1994; and
Whereas, Mr. Zeller also participated in several fraternal and charitable organizations, including the Kiwanis, the Freemasons, the Elks, the Eagles, and the American Legion; and
Whereas, Mr. Zeller was a loving and devoted father, stepfather, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was married to the late Nola Yeasting from August 11, 1945, until her death in 1979, and he married the former Carol Larson on October 9, 1981. In addition to his wife, Mr. Zeller is survived by 3 children, 6 stepchildren, 24 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the Wisconsin legislature commend the life and public service of John L. Zeller, express their sorrow at his death, and extend condolences to his family and friends; and, be it further
Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide a copy of this joint resolution to Mr. Zeller's wife, Carol, their children and stepchildren, and Mr. Zeller's brothers, James and David.
