ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: the life and service of United States Army Specialist Eric Poelman, who lost his life during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Whereas, U.S. Army Specialist Eric Poelman was born on April 6, 1984, in Janesville, Wisconsin, and died on June 5, 2005, when an improvised explosive device exploded near his vehicle during action in Baghdad, Iraq; and
Whereas, Specialist Poelman served with distinction and honor with the United States Army, 3rd Squadron, 3rd Armored Calvary Regiment, out of Fort Carson, Colorado; and
Whereas, Specialist Poelman was a loving husband to Renate, with whom he was united in marriage on May 1, 2004; and
Whereas, Specialist Poelman provided faithful and honorable service to the people of the state of Wisconsin and the people of the United States; and
Whereas, the people of Wisconsin mourn the death of Specialist Poelman; and
Whereas, Specialist Poelman was laid to rest at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove on Monday, June 13, 2005; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the legislature of the state of Wisconsin commemorates the remarkable life of U.S. Army Specialist Eric Poelman and extends its deepest sympathies to his family, friends, and colleagues; and, be it further
Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall transmit a copy of this joint resolution to Specialist Poelman's wife, Renate, of Racine; his parents, Matthias and Sally Poelman, of Longview, Texas; his brothers, Andrew, of Milwaukee and Greg, of Longview, Texas; and his grandmothers, Alice Poelman, of Chicago, Illinois, and Beverly Entz, of Indian Trail, North Carolina.
