2005 Senate Joint Resolution 49
ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: recognizing November 10 as Wisconsin ROTC Day in the state of Wisconsin.
Whereas, the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) has had a long history in Wisconsin dating back to just after the Civil War; and
Whereas, ROTC produces over 60 percent of all officers in the United States Armed Forces; and
Whereas, ROTC only accepts the best of the best to become officers in the Armed Forces; and
Whereas, the Air Force ROTC mission is "To produce leaders for the Air Force and build better citizens for America"; and
Whereas, the Army ROTC mission is "To commission the future officer leadership of the United States Army"; and
Whereas, the Navy ROTC mission, in part, is "To develop midshipmen mentally, morally, and physically and to imbue them with the highest ideals of duty, honor and loyalty..."; and
Whereas, these missions show the depth of character and the values these cadets, midshipmen, and officer candidates must possess; and
Whereas, Wisconsin is proud to support and defend the right for cadets, midshipmen, and officer candidates to participate in ROTC at public and private universities across the state; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the legislature of Wisconsin hereby recognizes November 10, 2005, and subsequent yearly anniversaries thereafter as "Wisconsin ROTC Day."
