2007 Assembly Joint Resolution 103
ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: commemorating the achievements and contributions of the Boy Scouts of America.
Whereas, the Boy Scouts of America incorporated February 8, 1910, at Chicago, Illinois, by publisher William D. Boyce; and
Whereas, the United States Congress recognized the value of the Boy Scouts of America by issuing a federal charter June 15, 1916; and
Whereas, the Boy Scouts of America celebrate over 98 years of existence in the United States; and
Whereas, the Boy Scouts of America mission is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling the values of the Scout Oath and Law; and
Whereas, the Boy Scouts of America make a direct and positive impact on communities by teaching the principles of American social, economic, and governmental systems, along with the values that encourage leadership; and
Whereas, the Boy Scouts of America are one of the largest voluntary youth movements in the United States, with loyal Americans participating in all 50 states; and
Whereas, the Boy Scouts of America membership is 4,619,730 with 51,077 packs, 42,269 troops, 8,264 teams, 19,920 crews, and 1,190,992 adult volunteers nationwide; and
Whereas, the Boy Scouts of America in Wisconsin have 12 Councils, 23,620 adult leaders, 40,660 Cub Scouts, 17,311 Boy Scouts, and 4,173 Venturing participants; and
Whereas, the Boy Scouts of America contribute outstanding contributions to the state of Wisconsin, amassing 121,794 service hours during 2007; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the Wisconsin legislature express support for the Boys Scouts of America and the values instilled through the Scout Oath and Law; and, be it further
Resolved, That the members of the Wisconsin legislature encourage all citizens and organizations in the state to recognize the importance of the Boy Scouts of America, and to support the cherished tradition of Boy Scouts of America; and, be it further
Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall transmit a copy of this joint resolution to the Boy Scouts of America in the great state of Wisconsin.
