2007 Assembly Joint Resolution 109
ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: recognizing the efforts of the Transition Assistance Advisor Program in Wisconsin.
Whereas, following the attacks of September 11, 2001, more than 11,550 military personnel have been called to active duty by the Wisconsin National Guard and Reserves to provide security at home and combat terrorism abroad; and
Whereas, the National Guard Bureau created the Transition Assistance Advisor Program, which has been authorized by the Wisconsin National Guard to serve Wisconsin military personnel and their families as a statewide point of contact in accessing veterans benefits, programs, and services; and
Whereas, the transition assistance advisor has developed a strong state coalition of community partnerships with county and tribal veterans service offices across the state as well as with the Department of Defense, the Department of Labor, the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Employer Support for the Guard and Reserve, and veterans service organizations; and
Whereas, the transition assistance advisor is enthusiastic and passionate about facilitating a smooth transition for Wisconsin military personnel as they depart active duty for civilian life, especially those returning with service-related special needs; and
Whereas, the Transition Assistance Advisor Program assists Wisconsin National Guard members and their families with services such as counseling, rehabilitative health care management, and assisting with employment and reemployment challenges; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the Wisconsin legislature express support for the Transition Assistance Advisor Program and the services it provides for members of the Wisconsin National Guard and Reserves as they return from active duty to civilian life; and, be it further
Resolved, That the members of the Wisconsin legislature encourage all returning service members to utilize the services provided by the Transition Assistance Advisor Program; and, be it further
Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall transmit a copy of this joint resolution to the transition assistance advisor in the Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs.
