2007 Assembly Joint Resolution 113
ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: commending Brett Favre on his spectacular career as quarterback of the Green Bay Packers.
Whereas, Brett Favre, born on October 10, 1969, in Gulfport, Mississippi, took over the reins as the Green Bay Packers quarterback on September 20, 1992, and led the team in 275 ensuing contests; and
Whereas, Brett Favre became the National Football League's all-time leader in passing touchdowns, pass completions, and pass attempts, and can claim more victories as quarterback than any quarterback in NFL history; and
Whereas, Brett Favre led the team in 22 post-season games, including 4 NFC Championship appearances, 2 Super Bowls, and a World Championship with a victory in Super Bowl XXXI—returning the Lombardi Trophy to Green Bay for the first time in 29 years; and
Whereas, Brett Favre will be remembered among football's all-time elite by earning the NFL's `MVP' honor a record 3 times, capturing the Associated Press award over the 1995, 1996, and 1997 seasons, in addition to 9 Pro Bowl selections; and
Whereas, Brett and Deanna Favre established the Brett Favre Fourward Foundation in 1996 to provide aid to disadvantaged and disabled children who reside in Wisconsin and Mississippi, and the foundation has contributed more than $3 million in the 2 states since it was created; and
Whereas, Brett Favre has been an avid supporter of countless local and national charity events and organizations, including the Deanna Favre Hope Foundation, which provides assistance to women who are underserved or underinsured in their battle against breast cancer; and
Whereas, Brett Favre's legacy will live on beyond his many impressive records and statistics, as his leadership and love of football embody the heart of America's favorite game, earning him the respect and admiration of his fellow players, coaches, and fans; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the Wisconsin legislature commend the many accomplishments of Brett Favre and his contributions to the Green Bay Packers and the entire state of Wisconsin, and wish him well in all of his future endeavors; and, be it further
Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide a copy of this joint resolution to Brett Favre and his wife, Deanna, and his 2 daughters, Brittany and Breleigh.
