2007 Assembly Joint Resolution 42
ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: declaring May as Manufacturing Month in Wisconsin.
Whereas, manufacturing contributes $44.6 billion to Wisconsin's gross state product; and
Whereas, Wisconsin has the second most manufacturing intensive economy in the United States; and
Whereas, one in five workers in Wisconsin are directly employed in manufacturing; and
Whereas, Wisconsin manufacturers pay among the highest wages and offer good benefits; and
Whereas, Wisconsin leads the nation in the manufacture of such diverse products as cheese, small engines, surface mining equipment, fire trucks, medical imaging equipment, and paper; and
Whereas, manufacturing creates economic growth that ripples through our economy, fostering job growth in other sectors of our state's economy; and
Whereas, manufacturing represents a significant portion of the local economy in virtually every county in Wisconsin; and
Whereas, $17.2 billion worth of Wisconsin manufactured products are exported to countries around the world; and
Whereas, Wisconsin manufacturers are meeting the challenges of global competition through innovation and productivity gains; and
Whereas, manufacturing provides exciting, high-tech career opportunities with excellent pay benefits; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the Wisconsin legislature salute Wisconsin's manufacturers and their employees for helping build a stronger economy for our families, our communities, and Wisconsin's future, and proclaim May 2007 as Manufacturing Month in the state of Wisconsin.
