ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: the life and public service of Doris J. Hanson.
Whereas, Doris J. Hanson was born on October 24, 1925, in Madison, Wisconsin, and died on November 8, 2006; and
Whereas, Doris J. Hanson graduated from Madison East High School and attended UW-Madison; and
Whereas, Doris J. Hanson was appointed secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Administration by Governor Anthony Earl and served from 1983 until 1987; and
Whereas, Doris J. Hanson was elected a trustee of the Village of McFarland from 1988 to 1991 and village president from 1991 to 1995; and
Whereas, Doris J. Hanson was first elected to the Wisconsin Assembly in 1992, serving in the 1993 through 1997 sessions; and
Whereas, after her retirement from the legislature, Doris J. Hanson was appointed executive director of Technology for Educational Achievement (TEACH) Wisconsin by Governor Tommy G. Thompson and reappointed by Governor Scott McCallum, serving as its executive director from 1998 to 2002; and
Whereas, Doris also served as commission member of the Commission for the Study of Administrative Value and Efficiency, the Governor's Blue Ribbon Commission on 21st Century Jobs, the Governor's Blue Ribbon Task Force on Telecommunications, the Governor's Glass Ceiling Commission, and the Human Resources Reform Commission; and
Whereas, in September 2006, Doris J. Hanson was appointed to the Board of Administrative Oversight by Chief Justice Shirley Abrahamson; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the Wisconsin legislature commend the devoted public service that Doris J. Hanson contributed to this state and her community, express their sorrow at her death, and extend their condolences to her family and friends; and, be it further
Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide a copy of this joint resolution to Doris J. Hanson's brother, Frank Hanson; her nephew, Jeffrey Hanson of Reston, Virginia; and her niece, Gloria DeVall of Jacksonville, Florida.
