ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: the life and public service of Robert L. Quackenbush.
Whereas, Robert L. Quackenbush was born on November 15, 1923, in Sparta, Wisconsin, and died on October 6, 2006; and
Whereas, he was a 1941 graduate of Sparta High School and earned a B.A. degree from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in 1950; and
Whereas, Robert served honorably in the U.S. Army Air Force from 1943 to 1946 during World War II; and
Whereas, Robert married Avis Morrison on November 22, 1951 and was the father of three children; and
Whereas, Robert worked for Monroe County Human Services and taught at the Tomah High School; and
Whereas, Robert Quackenbush was first elected in 1970 to represent the 92nd Assembly district in the state legislature and served in the 1971 through 1983 sessions; and
Whereas, during his retirement he volunteered numerous hours to the Sparta Free Library and enjoyed his many hobbies; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the Wisconsin legislature commend the devoted public service that Robert L. Quackenbush contributed to this state and his community, express their sorrow at his death, and extend their condolences to his family and friends; and, be it further
Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide a copy of this joint resolution to Mr. Quackenbush's wife, Avis of Sparta; his son, Mark Quackenbush of Denver, Colorado; and his daughters, Dr. Elizabeth Quackenbush of New York, New York, and Julia Schmick of Sparta.
