ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: the life and public service of Frank H. Urban, M.D.
Whereas, Frank H. Urban, M.D. was born on May 24, 1930, in St. Louis, Missouri, and died on October 25, 2008, while traveling in Egypt; and
Whereas, Dr. Urban graduated from Green Bay East High School in 1947, and earned a B.S. degree from the University of Wisconsin‐Madison in 1951, an M.D. degree from the University of Wisconsin‐Madison in 1954, and an M.S. degree from the University of Minnesota in 1960; and
Whereas, Dr. Urban served in the Army during the Korean Conflict; and
Whereas, Dr. Urban married Lois Thurwachter in June 1954, who preceded him in death in 1991 after 37 years of marriage; and
Whereas, Dr. Urban married Kathryn Bloomberg in 1992; and
Whereas, Dr. Urban held various leadership positions in medicine, including President of the Milwaukee County Medical Society and the Wisconsin Dermatologic Society; and
Whereas, Dr. Urban began his political career by serving as a trustee on the Elm Grove village board from 1985 to 1987 and as village president from 1987 to 1989; and
Whereas, Dr. Urban was first elected to the Wisconsin assembly in a September 1989 special election, serving in the 1989 through 2001 sessions; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the Wisconsin legislature commend the devoted public service that Dr. Frank H. Urban contributed to this state and his community, express their sorrow at his death, and extend their condolences to his family and friends; and, be it further
Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide a copy of this joint resolution to Dr. Frank H. Urban's wife, Kathryn Bloomberg, of Brookfield, Wisconsin.
