2009 Senate Joint Resolution 69
ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: commending past and present members of the Friends of the Wisconsin Historical Society on its 60th anniversary.
Whereas, in 1950, an enthusiastic and dynamic woman, Ruth DeYoung Kohler, had a strong belief in historic preservation and felt the need to instill interest in the cultural heritage of Wisconsin; and
Whereas, Ruth DeYoung Kohler organized the Woman's Auxiliary of the State Historical Society of Wisconsin; and
  Whereas, the Woman's Auxiliary eventually became known under its current name, the Friends of the Wisconsin Historical Society; and
  Whereas, for the past 60 years, this organization of dedicated volunteers has been a valued partner of the Wisconsin Historical Society in the preservation, advancement, and dissemination of information relevant to Wisconsin's proud history; and
  Whereas, the men and women of this independent volunteer organization have generously supplemented the activities of the Wisconsin Historical Society at a significant cost savings to Wisconsin taxpayers and have enhanced the lives of residents throughout the state; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the members of the legislature of the state of Wisconsin commend past and present members of the Friends of the Wisconsin Historical Society on its 60th anniversary, and also commend that organization for its commitment to service on behalf of the people of Wisconsin; and, be it further
Resolved, That the Senate Chief Clerk shall provide copies of this joint resolution to the Friends of the Wisconsin Historical Society.
