ENGROSSED RESOLUTION
Relating to: commending Krystal Ellis on her remarkable athletic career.
Whereas, Krystal Ellis has been named a three-time First Team All-state selection and Milwaukee area player of the year following her junior year at Racine St. Catherine's High School; and
Whereas, Ellis was a Big East All-Freshmen Team selection while breaking the single season steals record as a freshman while tying a single game scoring record with 29 points against Villanova in the Big East Tournament; and
Whereas, Ellis was an Associated Press All-American Honorable Mention selection and Big East All-Tournament Team selection, a six-time Big East Honor Roll selection, and named Women's Basketball Magazine's National Player of the Month for the month of April 2007; and
Whereas, Ellis earned a spot on the Naismith Trophy watch list and was placed on the All-Big East First Team twice while winning the MVP of the WNIT tournament; and
Whereas, Ellis was selected as Big East player of the week in November 2007 and scored a career best 40 points against Kentucky in the WNIT finals, leading the Marquette women's basketball team to a WNIT championship; and
Whereas, Ellis broke Abbie Willenborg's nine-year scoring record on February 3 in her 119th game by totaling 1,835 points in her career, and Ellis is the only player in program history to record over 1,800 points, 350 assists, and 200 steals; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the senate, That the Wisconsin senate commends Krystal Ellis on her remarkable athletic career.
