2011 Assembly Joint Resolution 30
ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: the life and public service of John E. McCormick.
Whereas, John E. McCormick was born on May, 20, 1924, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and died on November 26, 2010; and
Whereas, Judge McCormick was a graduate of Marquette University High School, and earned an LL.B. degree from Marquette University in 1951; and
Whereas, Judge McCormick served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a B‐24 navigator during World War II; and
Whereas, Judge McCormick married Mary Jo Deppisch, who preceded him in death; and
Whereas, Judge McCormick was first elected to the Wisconsin assembly in 1960, representing Milwaukee's 17th district in the 1961 through 1971 sessions; and
Whereas, after being appointed a circuit court judge for Milwaukee County in 1972, Judge McCormick served on the bench until his retirement in 2004, and was the longest-serving circuit court judge in Milwaukee County history; and
Whereas, Judge McCormick is described by some of his children as a man of unshakable integrity, a “pretty tough‐headed Irishman", and “one of those tough WWII guys"; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the Wisconsin legislature commend the devoted public service John E. McCormick contributed to this state and his community, express their sorrow at his death, and extend their condolences to his family and friends; and, be it further
Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide a copy of this joint resolution to Judge McCormick' s children, Thomas McCormick, Kathleen D'Acquisto, Patricia Berezowitz, Bridget Lenz, Mary Rogowski, Timothy McCormick, Ellen Gregg, Ann Ameri, and John McCormick.
