2011 Senate Joint Resolution 73
ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: commending Timothy Michael Dolan on his elevation to the cardinalate.
Whereas, Timothy Michael Dolan was ordained to the priesthood on June 19, 1976, and served as associate pastor at Immacolata Parish in Richmond Heights, Missouri; and
Whereas, in 1987, Timothy Michael Dolan was appointed to a five-year term as secretary of the Apostolic Nunciature in Washington, D.C.; and
Whereas, in 1992, Timothy Michael Dolan was appointed vice rector of Kenrick-Glennon Seminary, serving also as director of spiritual formation and professor of Church history; and
Whereas, in 1994, Timothy Michael Dolan was appointed rector of the Pontifical North American College in Rome where he served until June 2001, serving as a visiting professor of Church history at the Pontifical Gregorian University and as a faculty member in the Department of Ecumenical Theology at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas; and
Whereas, on June 19, 2001, the 25th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood, Timothy Michael Dolan was named the Auxiliary Bishop of St. Louis by Pope John Paul II; and
Whereas, Timothy Michael Dolan was named Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee by Pope John Paul II on June 25, 2002; and
Whereas, on February 23, 2009, Pope Benedict XVI appointed Timothy Michael Dolan as the Archbishop of the Archdiocese of New York; and
Whereas, on February 18, 2012, Pope Benedict XVI elevated Timothy Michael Dolan to the dignity of Cardinal at St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican City; and
Whereas, Timothy Michael Dolan has been recognized as a leader of Catholics throughout Wisconsin and the United States; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the
senate, the assembly concurring, That the legislature congratulates Timothy Michael Cardinal Dolan on the occasion of his elevation to the College of Cardinals, and thanks him for his years of service to the people of Wisconsin; and, be it further
Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall deliver a copy of this resolution to Timothy Michael Cardinal Dolan.
