ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: commending the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater gymnastics team for winning a second consecutive national championship.
Whereas, the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Warhawks gymnastics team achieved greatness in 2013, earning an overall season record of 20-4, and winning both the 2013 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletics Conference Championship and the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association Championship; and
Whereas, the gymnastics team also tied for the NCGA championship title in 2012 and won the WIAC title in 2010 and 2011; and
Whereas, the team has been led by a dedicated coaching staff, including Head Coach Jennifer Regan, Assistant Coach Ryan Bendixen, and Assistant Coach Allison Annala; and
Whereas, the team has also benefited from the leadership and talents of many experienced student athletes, including Katie Thompson, NCGA's Outstanding Senior and North Central Gymnast of the Year, who finished second in the all-around competition and ended her career with a total of 12 All-American honors; Cici Talcott, who won the uneven bars, the sixth individual title in UW-Whitewater's history; Allyse Dieringer, who won the WIAC uneven bars title; Delina Phillips, who won the WIAC vault title; and Siri Wischmann, who was named the WIAC Scholar Athlete for Women's Gymnastics; and
Whereas, the team has brought honor and positive attention to the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater campus and highlighted the sport of gymnastics; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the Wisconsin legislature commend the Warhawks, the coaching staff, and the student athletes on earning the 2013 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletics Conference Championship and 2013 National Collegiate Gymnastics Association Championship and wish them great success in all future endeavors.
