2013 Assembly Joint Resolution 96
ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: commemorating the fiftieth anniversary of the 1964 Dodgeville Dodgers high school boys basketball state championship.
Whereas, the 1964 Dodgers competed with more than four hundred other schools across the state for a spot in the final championship; and
Whereas, the team of young men from the small-town school of only four hundred students competed in a bracket against schools with as many as 1,800 students; and
Whereas, the Dodgers, through a combination of hard work, dedication, and commitment, finished their season at 26-0 on March 21, 1964, with a win over Milwaukee North, 59-45; and
Whereas, Dodgeville coach John "Weenie" Wilson built a team of small-town, dedicated kids, and coached them to unprecedented success and state and national prominence; and
Whereas, after the Dodgers won the state championship, cars, trucks, and more than three thousand people lined the streets of small-town Dodgeville to welcome the team home; and
Whereas, the 1964 Dodgers high school basketball team, composed of Pat Flynn, Bruce Harrison, Rick Brown, Bob Rock, and Corky Evans, will always have a special place in the history of Dodgeville and our state; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the Wisconsin legislature commemorates the fiftieth anniversary of the Dodgeville Dodgers high school basketball championship; and, be it further
Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide copies of this resolution to Dodgeville High School.
