2013 Assembly Resolution 7
ENGROSSED RESOLUTION
Relating to: the life and public service of James P. (Jim) Buckley.
Whereas, James P. "Jim" Buckley was born on June 7, 1933 in Waukesha, and died on December 18, 2012 in Brookfield at the age of 79; and
Whereas, Jim was a lifelong resident of Waukesha, graduating from St. Joseph's Catholic Elementary School and Waukesha High School, and earning a Bachelor of Science degree in history from Carroll College; and
  Whereas, Jim proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1948 until 1952; and
  Whereas, he was very active in politics and served as the deputy chairman of the Wisconsin Democratic Party from 1961 until 1964 and twice ran for Congress; and
  Whereas, he served as an alderman in the City of Waukesha for many years; and
  Whereas, Jim served as the chief clerk of the Assembly during the 1965-1966 legislative session; and
  Whereas, he was an ombudsman for Wisconsin Governor Patrick Lucey; and
  Whereas, as an excellent public speaker, he was a longtime lobbyist for many organizations, including the Wisconsin Banker's Association, School Psychologists, Wisconsin Liquor Licenses, and the Wrestling Association; and
  Whereas, he enjoyed playing the clarinet in his band, Jim Buckley & His Jazz Friends; and
  Whereas, he enjoyed acting while in college and later at the Waukesha Civic Theatre; and
  Whereas, Jim loved nature, particularly hiking and fishing; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the assembly, That the members of the Wisconsin assembly commend the distinguished career and public service of James P. "Jim" Buckley, express their sorrow at his death, and extend their condolences to his family and friends; and, be it further
Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide copies of this resolution to his son, James Buckley, and his daughter, Sarah Grissmeyer.
