2013 Senate Joint Resolution 20
ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: the life and military service of United States Army Sgt. Chester G. Stoda.
Whereas, Sgt. Chester Stoda was born on December 11, 1978, to Douglas and Ann Stoda, and died on September 2, 2011, while serving his country in Operation Enduring Freedom; and
Whereas, Sgt. Chester Stoda joined the United States Army in February 2008 and became a combat engineer, serving in Korea until 2009; and
Whereas, Sgt. Chester Stoda was stationed at Fort Hood and deployed to Afghanistan with the 8th Engineering Battalion in December 2010, where he was responsible for locating and removing improvised explosive devices from roads; and
Whereas, Sgt. Chester Stoda received many awards and decorations, including the Korea Defense Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal with campaign star, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, two Overseas Service Ribbons, and a Combat Action Badge, and was respected among his fellow soldiers and was honored to serve his country; and
Whereas, Sgt. Chester Stoda's family and fellow citizens are very proud of him and know that he died honorably serving the nation; and
Whereas, Sgt. Chester Stoda embodied the Army's core values of loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity, and personal courage; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the legislature of the state of Wisconsin commemorates the remarkable life of United States Army Sgt. Chester Stoda and extends its deepest sympathies to his family, friends, and colleagues; and, be it further
Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall transmit a copy of this joint resolution to his parents, Douglas and Ann Stoda.
