2015 Assembly Joint Resolution 115
ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: congratulating First Lady Tonette Walker and the Fostering Futures Steering Committee.
Whereas, Fostering Futures strives to provide focus on improving the lives of children, especially those in foster care, by sharing the concept of trauma-informed care; and
Whereas, educating government officials on the science of early-brain development and the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences has been a priority of Fostering Futures; and
Whereas, significant progress in this area can be made by promoting a comprehensive approach that aligns the work of all three branches of government: executive, legislative, and judicial; and
Whereas, Fostering Futures is promoting opportunities and offering recommendations to translate the science of trauma-informed care into practice for children and families in Wisconsin; and
Whereas, the Wisconsin state legislature hereby acknowledges the role of Wisconsin private sector partners SET Ministries, Medical College of Wisconsin, and SaintA; and
Whereas, it is with gratitude we recognize Casey Family Programs for its support, consultation, and funding that have provided structure, expertise, and encouragement in this endeavor; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That it is proper to acknowledge the role of Wisconsin First Lady Tonette Walker for her sincere interest and initiative in being a champion for the children of Wisconsin through the collaborative efforts of Fostering Futures. Because of this work, Wisconsin is recognized as a foster care leader in the United States, and the legislature will strive to support her continued efforts.
