ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: declaring August 11, 2015, to be Nik Wallenda Day in Wisconsin.
Whereas, Nikolas "Nik" Wallenda was born on January 24, 1979, and is an American acrobat, aerialist, daredevil, high-wire artist, and author; and
Whereas, Wallenda is known for his high-wire performances without a safety net; and
Whereas, Wallenda holds nine Guinness World Records for various acrobatic feats; and
Whereas, Wallenda is a seventh-generation member of The Flying Wallendas family, a daredevil troupe which has performed and entertained since the days of the Austro-Hungarian Empire; and
Whereas, Wallenda participated in various circus acts as a child, and, at age 13, he made his professional tightrope walking debut; and
Whereas, in 2012, Nik Wallenda set his seventh world record while walking a wire across Niagara Falls, and, less than a year later, he secured his eighth Guinness World Record by walking across the Grand Canyon; and
Whereas, on Tuesday, August 11, 2015, Nik Wallenda will attempt his longest high-wire walk ever at the 2015 Wisconsin State Fair. This challenge will include walking more than ten stories above the famous Milwaukee Mile racetrack for 1,560 feet on a wire no wider than a nickel; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the members of the Wisconsin state legislature do welcome Wallenda to Wisconsin, wish him every success, and hereby declare August 11, 2015, to be Nik Wallenda Day in Wisconsin.
