2015 Senate Joint Resolution 5
ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: honoring the life and public service of David Earl Paulson.
Whereas, David Earl Paulson led a full life, devoted to his family, friends, state, and country, including serving four terms as a member of the Wisconsin Assembly; and
Whereas, David was born on September 13, 1931, in Nye, Wisconsin, and graduated from Osceola High School in 1949; and
Whereas, David served honorably in the United States Navy from 1952 to 1956, defending our country during the Korean conflict; and
Whereas, David married his loving wife, Edith (Monson) Paulson in 1957, raising two children together during their marriage of more than 57 years; and
Whereas, David bought his dairy farm near Amery in 1961 and was named one of Wisconsin's Outstanding Farmers in 1970; and
Whereas, David was a dedicated public servant at the state and local levels, representing the 28th Assembly District from 1979 to 1982 and from 1985 to 1988 and serving as chairman and supervisor of Black Brook Township for more than 28 years and as a member of the Polk County Board for more than 10 years; and
Whereas, David was active in his church community, serving as deacon, secretary, and president of the East Immanuel Lutheran Church for 15 years of his 53 years as a member of the parish; and
Whereas, David enjoyed hunting, fishing, engaging in Scandinavian heritage activities, and traveling throughout the United States and around the world; and
Whereas, David passed away on January 17, 2015, surrounded by his loving family, leaving behind his wife, Edith, his daughter Linnae and son Eric, eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, as well as a legacy of hard work and faithful service to others; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the members of the Wisconsin legislature join all Wisconsin residents in honoring the life and achievements of David Earl Paulson and extend their condolences to his family and friends; and
Be it further resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall provide a copy of this joint resolution to David's wife, Edith, and to his children, Linnae Seaman and Eric Paulson.
