2015 Senate Joint Resolution 59
ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: congratulating the United States Navy on the commissioning of the USS Milwaukee.
Whereas, the USS Milwaukee (LCS-5) is a Freedom-class littoral combat ship of the United States Navy; and
Whereas, a littoral combat ship is a class of relatively small surface vessels intended for operations in the littoral zone (close to shore) by the United States Navy; and
Whereas, her keel was laid in October 27, 2011, by Marinette Marine Corporation in Marinette, Wisconsin; and
Whereas, her diesel engines were manufactured at Fairbanks Morse Engine company in Beloit, Wisconsin; and
Whereas, the USS Milwaukee was launched in December of 2013, and is currently undergoing sea trials; and
Whereas, she will be the 5th ship to be named by the United States Navy for the City of Milwaukee; and
Whereas, the United States Navy has selected Saturday, November 21, 2015, as the date of the commission of the USS Milwaukee in Veterans Park on the Milwaukee lakefront; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the members of the Wisconsin legislature do congratulate the United States Navy on the commissioning of the USS Milwaukee, and wish "Godspeed" to both her and those who serve upon her.
