2019 Assembly Resolution 15
ENGROSSED RESOLUTION
Relating to: honoring the life and commemorating the contributions of former Representative Richard “Dick” Matty.
Whereas, Richard Matty was born on September 16, 1932, in Menominee, Michigan, and passed away on April 21, 2019, in Peshtigo, Wisconsin; and
Whereas, Matty served his country in the U.S. Army and, later on, in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War; and
Whereas, he represented his district in the Wisconsin State Assembly for eight terms between 1973 and 1987, and served on various committees and councils, including the Governor's Highway Safety Council; and
Whereas, he also served as state tourism director and Marinette County coroner; and
Whereas, he was committed to conservation, assuming leadership roles in the Northeastern Wisconsin Conservation Alliance and the Wisconsin Conservation Congress; and
Whereas, he owned and operated Matty's Steak House for a quarter century; and
Whereas, he enriched his community through participation in the Amvets, VFW, Crivitz Lions Club, Crivitz American Legion, Crivitz Recreation Association, Troop 58, and St. Mary's Catholic parish; and
Whereas, he was beloved by his wife, Sandra, their seven children, and their many grandchildren and great grandchildren; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the assembly, That the members of the Wisconsin State Assembly honor the life and commemorate the contributions of former Representative Richard “Dick” Matty; and, be it further
Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide a copy of this resolution to Richard's family.
