2021 Assembly Resolution 22
ENGROSSED RESOLUTION
Relating to: honoring the life and public service of Representative Robert Goetsch.
Whereas, Representative Robert Goetsch passed away on June 22, 2021, in the town of Oak Grove, Wisconsin, at the age of 87; and
Whereas, Robert Goetsch was born on August 5, 1933, in his lifelong home of Oak Grove, Wisconsin; and
Whereas, he attended Beaver Dam High School and Wayland Junior College before graduating from the University of Wisconsin–Madison; and
Whereas, Robert Goetsch served his country in the U.S. Army from 1954–56; and
Whereas, he served his community as Oak Grove Town Board supervisor from 1971–83 and chairman from 1975–83 and as a member of the Dodge County Board from 1972–84; and
Whereas, Representative Goetsch was elected to the Wisconsin State Assembly in 1982 and served through 2001, working on various committees, including Ways and Means, Urban and Local Affairs, and Children and Families, as well as chairing the Criminal Justice Committee; and
Whereas, in addition to being a farmer, he was also an active member of the local Elks Club and the American Legion; and
Whereas, he is survived by his daughter Shana Goetsch, his adopted son Chad Goetsch, and five siblings and was preceded in death by his wife Carolyn H. Goetsch (née Koboski) in 1989, his younger sister Phyllis Goetsch, his mother Dorothy Goetsch, and his father Elmer Goetsch; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the assembly, That the members of the Wisconsin Assembly mourn the passing of Representative Robert Goetsch and commemorate his life and public service; and, be it further
Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide a copy of this resolution to his family.
