2021 Senate Joint Resolution 95
ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: honoring the life and public service of Representative William Vander Loop.
Whereas, Representative William “Bill” Vander Loop, a public servant, veteran, and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on December 28, 2021, at age 89; and
Whereas, Bill was born to Peter and Emma Vander Loop on December 6, 1932, and he grew up in Little Chute, graduating from St. John's grade school and high school; and
Whereas, Bill was a loving husband to his wife Joyce and a loving father to their five children; and
Whereas, Bill lived an active life and had a lifelong passion for sports, which he passed on to his many children and grandchildren; and
Whereas, prior to joining the legislature, Bill worked for 38 years as a wood yard supervisor, and he served his country in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955; and
Whereas, Bill was a Korean War Veteran, a member of the VFW Post 3319 of Kaukauna, and a proud member of the American Legion Post 258 of Little Chute for 66 years, where he served as commissioner, state vice commissioner, district commander, and post commander; and
Whereas, Bill was a member of several other organizations throughout his life, including the Kaukauna Credit Union Board for 30 years, the Kaukauna Utility Board for 18 years, the Moose Club, and the Lions Club International; and
Whereas, Bill proudly represented his community for eight years as an alderman for the City of Kaukauna and went on to represent the people of the 5th Assembly District in the Wisconsin State Legislature for another eight years, from 1991 until 1999; and
Whereas, during his tenure in the legislature, Bill was a tireless advocate for his community, and he served with expertise as vice-chair of the Veterans and Military Affairs Committee and as chair of the Labor and Job Training Committee; and
Whereas, Bill is remembered fondly by his colleagues in the legislature as a servant leader who dedicated his life to helping others and continually strived to make his community a better place; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the members of the Wisconsin Legislature mourn the passing of Representative William Vander Loop and extend their condolences to his family and friends; and, be it further
Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall provide a copy of this resolution to his family.
